Florida Night Club Settles Personal Injury Case Involving Bouncer

A Florida nightclub recently settled a personal injury claim involving severe head injuries suffered by one of its patrons at the hands of the club’s bouncer.

Details of the Incident

Youngest Aldan, a Rhode Island student, was standing outside a night club’s side door when the club’s bouncer asked him what he was doing there. Aldan tried to explain that he was texting a friend asking where he was when a second bouncer came out and pulled him out of the side door and pushed him toward the front. Some heated words were exchanged and the bouncer hit Aldan on the face, causing him to fall hard on the ground.

Injuries Resulting from Incident

Witnesses said that the fall was so loud that they heard Aldan’s head crack against the sidewalk. Aldan suffered serious head injuries and was in a coma for several months. He is currently unable to bathe or go to the bathroom by himself and is also learning how to walk again. He will require medical care for the rest of his life. So far, Aldan has incurred a total of $1.2 million to $1.4 million in medical expenses.

Claiming Compensation

Aldan’s father filed a negligence suit against the nightclub, its owner, and the owner of the land and club building. The suit alleged that the club owner was aware of the pattern of violence inflicted by its security personnel across its clubs in Florida, and that it allowed the violent practices to continue. The club and its owner settled the claims against them for $5 million while claims against the building and land owner are still pending.

In Florida, owners of commercial premises such as bars and clubs have a duty to prevent injury of patrons, guests, and employees while in their premises. If you or a family member is injured while in someone’s property, you may be entitled to compensation.
