Family Dies in Auto Accident While on Vacation in Florida

A young couple, Thomas Garza and Lillian Luna, planned to celebrate their young daughter’s first birthday with a big vacation in Disney World, Florida. On their way to the vacation destination, their vehicle, a Nissan Maxima, was rear-ended by another car shortly after 4 o’clock in the morning. The impact of the collision caused both cars to flip and catch fire.

Injuries from the Auto Accident

The couple died at the accident site. Their young daughter Briana was ejected from the car and died later at the hospital. Relatives of the young couple described them as hardworking parents who spoiled their daughter and wanted to provide her with a bright future.

The driver of the other car, a Mercedes SUV, suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Cause of Accident Still Undetermined

Investigations into the auto accident is still ongoing but initial information suggests that the SUV driver was traveling at a faster speed than the young family. The SUV driver also alleged to have a record of charges such as possession of methamphetamine, unlawful speeding, and texting while driving. Police are asking for witnesses to contact them with any information about the crash.

If you or a family member is involved in a catastrophic auto accident, you may be entitled to compensation through a personal injury case of wrongful death. Your Florida personal injury lawyer can help you gather and sort evidence, determine legal responsibility for the accident and injuries, and represent you in negotiations for settlement or in a full-blown litigation.

Claiming Compensation

Compensation for auto accidents will depend on the extent of the plaintiff’s injuries and can cover medical bills already incurred, future medical expenses, costs for ongoing treatment, physical therapy and rehabilitation, lost income, and damages for the injured party’s pain and suffering. In wrongful death cases arising from car accidents, the surviving heirs can claim lost wages, benefits, and earnings, medical and funeral expenses, and damages for the loss of companionship, guidance, and protection provided by the deceased person.
